Is there a recommended order in which to administer tests?

NIH Toolbox tests can be administered in any order. If you would like to administer tests in a standardized order in your study, please create assessments with preset and/or custom batteries.

In NIH Toolbox V3, there are two tests (FNAME and RAVLT) that have a delay portion that is intended to be administered 5-25 minutes after the first test. NIH Toolbox V3 FNAME normative data were collected with the administration of the Visual Reasoning and Oral Symbol Digit tests between FNAME and FNAME Delay. NIH Toolbox V3 RAVLT normative data were based on the administration of the Visual Reasoning and Oral Symbol Digit tests between RAVLT and RAVLT Delay. It is recommended, though not required, to administer these tests during the delay or to take a short break.
