Our vision scientific team has determined that while the LogMAR and corresponding Snellen scores produced for the Visual Acuity Test are important for both research and clinical applications, there is likely no scientific justification for using age-adjusted or all-adjusted normed scores for this test. LogMAR is a standardized score that is well accepted and of primary use as a visual acuity research variable. This score is also converted to a Snellen score, which is correspondingly used in clinical settings. Accordingly, we will over time remove the automatic production of normed scores for the Visual Acuity Test from all versions and all languages of the NIH Toolbox app. If you have concerns about how that would impact a current or future study, please reach out to the help desk via email with a description of how you are currently using the Visual Acuity Test normed scores (or planned to use them) and we will have an analyst contact you.
