As a reminder, the NIH Toolbox Version 2 (V2) app will be retiring in the summer of 2028, and we recommend transitioning to the NIH Toolbox V3 app as soon as possible.
If you are running a longitudinal study on V2 and want to continue collecting data on V2, the last time you can renew your subscription will be through summer 2027. For example, if your subscription renews in February, then February 2027 will be the last time you can purchase an annual subscription and it will run through February 2028.
If your annual renewal month places you at a point that you cannot renew in 2027 (i.e., August 2027 through December 2027), or you want to continue in V2 until the app is fully retired, but your subscription renewal ends a few months or so before, please contact Customer Service (help@nihtoolbox.org).
In terms of cost, please note that the NIH Toolbox V2 subscription price will increase annually by $250 USD each year until retirement. By early August 2024, the price of the NIH Toolbox V2 app will increase to $749.99 USD plus tax (as applicable), and in subsequent years, the price increase is anticipated in June of those years. So, in June of 2025 the price will be $999.99 USD plus tax (as applicable). This will continue until the app is retired.
Please be aware that when the subscription price is increased, the automatic renewal will be turned off. Therefore, if you plan to continue with the V2 app during the retirement years, you may need to take additional steps to purchase it upon renewing the app. Furthermore, you will be forced to update your V2 app to continue to use it. This is in accordance with our recommended usage that you update your app when updates are made available.
